Breakfast and Opening Session
Breakfast was served outside the ballroom with a large crowd filing in to participate in a question and answer session with a la mode founder and Chairman Dave Biggers.  a la mode CEO Scott Kinnaird beamed in via video conference to address the packed house.  He noted he'd just finished his book, Why Business People Speak Like Idiots, saying that it's very important to him to avoid "business-speak" — he promised plain spoken answers to questions and concerns, and promised the whole company would share this philosophy.

Track-style training  Top
Attendees had a 20 class smorgasbord to choose from including the popular "Faster Field Sketching with MobileSketch and Disto" and "Automated Marketing and Service Strategies", as well as several Hands-On classes like "Getting your XSite Off the Ground".  Classes like "Formfilling Essentials" and "Report Management, Digital Workfiles and Archiving" got everyone excited about how much Aurora will help them be more productive and efficient.  We also threw in bonus classes including "Copywriting your Appraisal Data" and two classes on network technology and security taught by Jeff Jones of TechSource.

Information from the sources  Top
The exhibit hall featured booths from vendors like Apex, Dell, New World Mobile Technologies, and much more (check out the full vendor list).  Appraisers learned a lot about existing tools of the trade as well as what's up and coming in the industry.  We also had an a la mode booth where customers could come and ask questions directly of our development and tech support staff or take Aurora for a spin on one of the computers we had set up for that purpose.

Opening night's cocktail reception  Top
Everyone had a blast, and it was a great opportunity to meet and learn from other appraisers.  Some of our customers used this time to meet friends from the online forums face to face for the first time.

An informative panel lunch  Top
Being "mobile", from an appraisal technology standpoint, is no longer just being able to check your e-mail in the field.  At Friday's sold-out panel lunch, a la mode's Alonso Portillo moderated a discussion among Talmon Murphy of New World Mobile Technologies, Matt Johnson of AppraiserDepot.com and Randall Garrett of Apex.  Discussion centered on how the technology you use in the field is changing and helping you be more productive and provide more professional customer service.

A good portion of the time was devoted to questions from the 500+ attendees. The panel fielded questions about the best "starter package" of mobile hardware and software, the best high-resolution Pocket PCs, how laser measurements and other field data collection technologies are stored in your workfile, and much more.
