What's the UAD and UMDP?
In a nutshell, the Uniform Mortgage Data Program (UMDP) is an initiative by Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac and the FHA to collect better data, and the appraisal report will be one of the first fully electronic files coming into the system.  (Check out Fannie Mae's site here.)

Appraisals will be submitted in MISMO XML format, and will be called the Uniform Appraisal Dataset (UAD).  The “uniform” is mostly concerned with "standardized responses for key data fields.”  That means in many fields you’ll be presented with choices limited to a picklist determined by Fannie and Freddie, rather than the free-form approach that you enjoy now.  (Read our library of articles outlining the UAD and our solutions here.)

It will be the biggest change in how you fill out reports since the creation of the URAR decades ago.  But, there's no need to worry because we'll make sure that you're fully ready for the deadline.
