Re: Aurora: March 12th update is ready
Today’s WinTOTAL Aurora update is now available on our servers. To download it, click the “Get Updates” button on the toolbar in your Appraisal Desktop.
Today’s brief update puts in place the last DaVinci Mobile Pro supporting file needed in WinTOTAL before its live release later this month. Currently, DaVinci Mobile Pro is going through third party verification for Windows Certification. Once completed, it will be ready for release and become an official graduate of our labs program.
Since being released as a labs prototype last summer, thousands of you have taken the time to download DaVinci Mobile Pro, try it out and send us your feedback. You’ve helped to make what is, in my opinion, the most flexible and efficient field data gathering tool for appraisers that’s come along yet. And while I’m sure there will always be those who use the phrase “from my cold, dead hands” in reference to their clipboards, the technology sure has come a long way since the clamshell Pocket PCs and the first version of Pocket TOTAL in the mid-90s. To say “Thank you” we’ll have special introductory prices for everyone who helped DaVinci along by downloading it from the labs. And as always, Elite customers get anything new we release for free, and that certainly includes a copy of DaVinci.
We have another Aurora update on the schedule for later this month that will include a large number of improvements. After last month’s update, a number of you told us of some things you’d like to see addressed. We’re working on those, and we’re working to finish up some mapping improvements not originally included when we released the Virtual Earth maps. These include the Bird’s Eye imagery, taken from a 45 degree angle and can be rotated around the property. For an example, click here. Search for your address, and if there’s Bird’s Eye imagery available for your area, you’ll see it as a viewing option in the upper left corner of the map. Another improvement we’ll be adding is the ability to pull coordinates from Garmin and Magellan pocket GPS units. You’ll be able to associate coordinates with properties in your report to further increase accuracy, especially in rural areas and new construction.
Last, for those of you planning to attend our Regional Convention in Las Vegas on April 12-14 but haven’t signed up yet, it’s nearly full so don’t put it off. Also, we’ve now got the dates and venues locked down for our Regional Conventions in Atlanta and Chicago. For more information, click here.
That’s it for today. Thank you for your time and business, and as always, feel free to contact me directly with any comments and feedback.
