Re: Aurora update, Bird's Eye imagery and FHA loans

This month's WinTOTAL Aurora update is now available on our servers. To download it, click the "Get Updates" button on the toolbar in your Appraisal Desktop. You can read the complete release notes here, or visit the Aurora Status website.  To visit it now, click here.

With this update, the Virtual Earth maps in WinTOTAL Aurora now include Bird's Eye imagery.  This is one of the reasons we switched to the VE map system.  As you’ll recall from previous update e-mails, Bird's Eye images are high resolution photos taken at 45 degree angles from airplane fly-overs, and can be rotated 360 degrees around your subject.  Not only are they incredibly cool, but because of their clarity, clients are able to easily see what’s around the property and the land use (i.e. they can actually see the sewage treatment "pond" right behind the house).  And while metro areas have Bird's Eye imagery available, many rural areas have it as well. To give it a try, click the new Bird's Eye icon at the top of your screen the next time you download a map in Aurora.

Also, you may be interested to know HUD recently reported that over the last three months, the volume of FHA mortgage originations has doubled, going up to 181,900 applications.  Since these FHA loans are so popular, being able to accept these orders could be a good way for you to offset a slowdown in traditional lender work.  And HUD recently changed their FHA approved appraiser guidelines, so you’ll want to read up on it.  To find out more about the requirements and to submit your application, click here.

To go along with this, we're adding content to your XSellerate marketing system to help you let clients know about your FHA approved status, as well as a pre-written web page to add to your Appraiser XSite.  Stay on the lookout for those.

That's it for today.  As always, thanks for your business, and feel free to e-mail me with any questions.
