Dear WinTOTAL user:
As I’ve mentioned in past update notices, some
updates are more comprehensive than others, and this update happens to be one of
the longer ones. There are dozens of changes, over 60 in all, throughout the
program. If you haven’t already, please get your Instant Customer Updates now
within Aurora.
Updates have also been made to the XSites
again. These are web-based updates to the XSites Business Management that
require no action on your part.
The biggest changes visually in this update
involve the mapping module. The auto-mapping worked fine for some of you but
generated unnecessary confusion and extra steps in other cases. That’s why this
update includes the streamlined, more “traditional” mapping tools, and the maps
button has been renamed to the more logical “Maps” instead of “net.X”.
I know that some of you will feel that removing
auto-mapping is a step backwards, but we expect over time to be able to have a
hybrid approach where maps can be optionally pre-pulled but managed in a more ad
hoc fashion. The changes will eventually be part of a “workspace scratchpad”
feature, where documents and data of all sorts are available for placement
inside the report as needed. You’ll be able to have data of different types like
photos, maps, comps you’re considering, etc. all “laying around” (sort of like
papers on your desk), and then simply insert them into the proper places in the
report as it shapes up. Or you can discard them, or keep them in the Workfile.
When that eventually is available, we think we’ll have the best of both worlds.
Automatically pulled maps will be there for you if you choose along with the
other supporting data for the report. But for now, “old school” manually
initiated maps are back.
On the renaming aspect to “Maps” from “net.X”,
you’ll see in future updates that the net.X data backbone will be properly
utilized and make a lot more sense. Our future “one click” synchronization net.X
button will be a centralized “send and receive” module, checking to see what
data will be coming in (orders, billing changes, contacts, etc.) and all data
going out (status updates, messages, billing changes, etc.). You’ll be able to
preview and choose what gets sent and received, and then let it go do its thing.
You’ll know exactly what’s happening and when. We expect it to be out of beta in
April, and at that point you’ll see the “net.X” moniker resurrected.
We had hoped to have the new Appraisal
Institute AI Reports™ non-lending forms in this week’s update. However, our beta
testers have had enough suggestions that the new forms are not ready yet. We’ll
have them in the next update.
Speaking of the next update, we are now at the
point that a two-week gap between updates will work better for everyone. The
next update after today will be Friday, April 14th, and it will be substantial,
with improved versions of almost all of the core components of WinTOTAL.
During the two week gap, we will send out a
separate notice with download instructions for the “Rollback Utility”, for those
who would like to move back to the older version 4 of WinTOTAL (Athena). That
same notification will include instructions for ordering a replacement WinTOTAL
version 4 CD.
Thank you again for your business. We think
you’ll like these updates and the coming changes as well.

WinTOTAL Aurora Update– March 31, 2006
This update contains more than 60 improvements
throughout WinTOTAL, but with focus on the core formfilling and file management
views.
Obviously, not all of these issues happen every
time the various functions were used, but those of you who encountered these
situations will be aware of them and know by these references that your issues
are fixed.
Formfilling
- When you clone a report, the auto-numbering
sequence is now incremented correctly, the report history of the existing
report is no longer copied into your new file, and reports without a major
form don’t give a runtime error 91.
- In certain instances, custom fonts on a
photo addenda page with 3 or 6 photos wasn’t being retained. This has been
corrected.
- SmartMerge now retains the state of your
folders from the last time you used it.
- When using a recent response entry, it was
possible for WinTOTAL to apply the wrong entry. This has been corrected.
- When using an REO addendum in a report, data
is transferred and held correctly in the major form’s comps grid.
- The red “X” button in the file override
screen works as expected now.
- The option to transfer data in your form
properly remembers its setting.
- When deleting a sketch page in the Sketch
PowerView, it will now be removed immediately.
- Switching between the split-screen addenda
and the form view is more reliable.
New Forms
- Added the IRS W-9 2006 Form
Comps
- Moving a comparable from one slot to another
in the comps side-by-side view now works correctly.
- In certain cases, if you started a new
report without cloning or merging and immediately used the comps database to
place 3 comparables, they were being added to slots 4-6. This has been
corrected.
- When you remove a comparable from the
side-by-side view into your digital Workfile, and then restore it at a later
time, the comp photo is now restored correctly.
- When adding a comparable to the database
manually, the age is now displayed correctly in the grid.
- If you input a short sale date, such as
12/02, on a 1025 form in Athena, then upgraded to Aurora, the sale date now
shows correctly.
- When entering a short sale date such as
12/02, it is now saved as you enter it instead of converting it to 12/02/2006.
- When searching for multiple criteria by
using a semi-colon, the proper results are now returned.
Mapping
- The net.X PowerView has been renamed to Maps
PowerView.
- The auto-mapping features of WinTOTAL have
been removed and replaced with simpler mapping tools, Athena-style.
- You can now selectively choose to include
comps, rentals, or listings on your map.
- Properties are no longer placed improperly
at 0,0 GPS coordinates (in the Atlantic Ocean) if the address is not
understood by the geocoding database.
- You can now add GPS coordinates in Aurora in
deg/min/sec format.
- In certain instances, when double-clicking
to edit the contents of a balloon, if you then hit escape to exit the balloon,
the wizard would close unexpectedly. This has been corrected.
- When using the Small Income Form [03/05],
changes made to rentals or comps now show correctly.
- Balloons placed on flood maps now display
correctly.
- Step #1 of the Map Wizard now always
displays so you can verify address information.
Files PowerView
- The signed date column has been added back
into the available columns in the Files PowerView.
- An issue that caused reports to not open
after being moved between folders has been fixed.
- The “All Reports” tracking folder now gives
the correct total of all files in that folder.
- You can now collapse either the Files view
or the Tracking view, and the vertical divider between the views will now
retain its position after you close and re-open WinTOTAL.
- If there is more than one photo in the
images database by the same file name, the correct one is now shown in the
report details grid in the Files PowerView.
- Setting status on a file after performing a
search in the Files PowerView no longer clears the search results.
- An option to open the report has been added
to the report expanded details view.
- The Files PowerView interaction with your
Vault account has been improved, avoiding unnecessary error messages caused by
temporary Internet interruptions.
- Adding buttons to a custom toolbar in the
Files PowerView now works correctly.
- The Files PowerView no longer changes
folders in the background while working in an open report.
- If you input a range of date or time in the
Order Form appointment field, that range is now displayed correctly in the
Files PowerView instead of being blanked out.
- In some cases a type mismatch error would be
displayed when loading RELS orders. This has been corrected.
- The option to deliver a report in Pocket
TOTAL format has been added back to the delivery menu.
- In a small number of cases, if you opened a
report with a subject photo and saved it, the Files PowerView would not show
the photo preview. This has been corrected.
- When you print from the report’s expanded
details view, the last printed date and last printed by fields now update
correctly.
- If you’ve attached directories connected to
a network resource, and your network becomes unavailable, they’re now retained
properly the next time you start WinTOTAL.
- When the Order view is selected, and you do
a search for files, the order form preview now updates immediately, instead of
when you select one of the search results.
- When adding new columns, the width is now
properly retained.
- When returning to the Files PowerView from
another PowerView, the Vault, QuickBooks and XSite columns will no longer
appear blank.
Contacts
- Searching for contacts by anything other
than name now works correctly.
- Company records should no longer by
synchronized with an XSite order if you have the add/update contact checkbox
disabled.
- In some cases, sorting company contacts in
the database would show several blank rows. This has been corrected.
Status
- The preview message link in the send status
dialog screen now works correctly.
- In certain cases it was possible for a
report to be caught in the “In Progress” status. This has been corrected.
- When you mark a report as completed when
signing a report, a completed notification is no longer sent automatically.
- When uploading an XSite order for the first
time, previous locally set statuses will not be removed.
Delivery
- In some instances, when trying to deliver to
AppraisalPort you would receive a message about a unique key violation. This
has been corrected.
General
- When viewing the Pocket TOTAL or Snapshot
views in the Appraisal Desktop, the default width of the navigation column is
now correct.
- You can now re-size the horizontal divider
in the Help PowerView’s Update History view.
SafeStart
- If WinTOTAL shuts down unexpectedly, it now
runs a full system file replace instead of a selective system file check.
Appraiser XSites Update– March 31, 2006
Additional core invoicing and management
improvements, besides those listed below, are currently being worked on and will
be in larger future updates.
- Now, when editing orders, you’ll be prompted
to select a new contact if the order contains a contact that’s been deleted.
- In certain cases, sending order
notifications to clients had incorrect “Placed On” dates. This has been
corrected.
- The order detail page in the Client Login
section of your XSite now more closely matches the detail page on the XSites
Network.
- The county is synchronized correctly between
Aurora and your XSite order form.
- The calendar screen in the manual status
notification section of Business Management has been updated to show the year
properly, regardless of the date format used.
- The “From” e-mail address is now added to
the manual status notifications sent from the XSite correctly.
