Keep web traffic coming back to your site
Today, we released a new feature to your site that allows you to show RSS Feeds.  RSS stands for Really Simple Syndication.  It allows other sites (Yahoo!® News, Inman®, The New York Times®) to publish news stories, blogs, podcasts, and video blogs to your site automatically, so you’ve always got highly targeted, current content.

Why is RSS important?
It’s no secret that search engines reward sites with fresh, relevant content with a boost in search engine ranking.  They also look for links between your site and other websites, especially sites that have similar content that's relevant to the industry, or local content.

RSS feeds will keep your visitors on your site longer, and will keep them coming back.  Plus, if you have a specialty, you can choose a RSS feed that gives visitors the impression that you’re the unrivaled expert.  Are you a relocation expert?  Think about adding a RSS about local news or economic conditions.  Are you an investment property expert?  Add an RSS about rates and investment news.  New construction experts can add a RSS feeds about construction trends, and the list goes on.

With our release of RSS feeds today, we’ve made having targeted, current content on your site automatic.

How does it work?
Adding a RSS feed to your XSite is really easy.  But first, you need to decide what news you want to have on your site.  Doing a simple Google search for “RSS Feed directories” will give you a ton of choices.  Here are a couple of suggestions:

  • www.topix.net — Get content customized for your zip codes
  • http://news.yahoo.com/rss — Business, sports, entertainment, and much more from around the globe
  • Local newspapers often publish RSS feeds, so check their websites
Once you’ve found the news that you want to have on your site, look for the RSS Feed icon, and copy the URL for the feed.  Then add the RSS feed to your site with these simple steps.

Log into your XSite and go to the “My Content” step of the Wizard.
Open any page you want to add syndicated content to, or add a new
custom page.
When you’ve opened your page, give your button a name (Local news, Industry info, etc.).  Then scroll down and check the RSS Feeds box.  Then click “customize” to add your feed.
Click the Add Feed button and paste the address of the RSS feed in to the Feed Path Box (Be sure to remove the "http://".  We’ve already added that for you).
Click Save in the “Add Feed” window and the “RSS Feeds” window.
Save your content page and you’re all set.

We’re always working to give you the tools you need to succeed and as always, this new feature is free.  If you want to learn more about the features in your XSite, click here to check out our webinar schedule and sign up for one of our free courses.
