So far we've overviewed SEO and the use of keywords.   Today we're going to focus on making your key words and phrases into a headline, a bullet list, or a hyperlink to help get them noticed.

As with making sure you mention the right words obviously on the page, this is something you should also do for the sake of your readers. The idea here is that if eyes could just skim through a page and based on headlines, lists, links and such if they could summarize what the page is about then you’ve got a pretty clear and simple page. This is a great example of how search engines are trying to look at a page to see if it would be pleasing and easy for a human reader before they recommend it in their search results pages.

Most of the pages a la mode creates for you already include a headline with this in mind (such as “Are you thinking of financing a home in Oklahoma City?” which includes an area name and words like “home” and “financing”), or simple bullet lists of highlights. Don’t do it too much or where it doesn’t make sense, though, as constantly changing font sizes, colors, and style changes can make your page look ugly. Linking to pages for further reading also helps, which we’ll get into more with the next tip…
