Track what your website is doing for you

by Dustin Moore

No matter which website company you use, one of your most difficult tasks is tracking how successful your website really is.  Most agents get lulled into a false sense of security by thinking that their website success is based on how many leads they get.  While this might be a good place to start, it's certainly not the place to end.

One method is to register multiple domain names for any of your websites.  Depending on the market that you are trying to either enter or maintain, use different domain names on different marketing pieces.  Now — mind you, they all point to the same site but just as you wouldn't go hunting bear with a fishing pole, neither should you market to different areas with the same domain.

Example of marketing different domains might be to have a domain like FIRSTTIMEMORTGAGE.COM for people who are new to the home buying process and show them your resources to help them buy their first home.  Or use SECONDHOMEMORTGAGE.COM for people looking to add a second property to their portfolio.  You get the picture.

After you have marketed several website domains to prospective clients, track the visitors and the click-through rates and see which one of your marketing pieces is getting the most attention and visits.  Then replicate that type of message or double your marketing budget to your higher response area.  The great thing about using this tactic is that buying domain names are super cheap and an easy way to track your return on investment.
