Duane Meier owns and operates Meier and Associates, Inc. in Saginaw, MI and has been a customer of a la mode since January 2024, after his old vendor had a critical software failure.

Back to Appraiser Stories

I've wanted to switch to TOTAL for years, but I kept putting it off, mostly because I used my old software for two decades and I was reluctant to re-learn how to enter an appraisal. Then, due to a recent critical software failure with my old vendor, my reluctance vanished!

Talk about a blessing in disguise.

The a la mode team has been FANTASTIC! First of all, their sales department was overwhelmed with all of the new customers suddenly interested in TOTAL, so by the time I contacted them, they were swamped and I left a message for my account rep. Then, I went over to the support chat on the website and explained my situation. Support set me up with a 30-day trial with full functionality until such a time as I could be registered. I watched the first tutorial video (about 37 minutes), and I was up and running. Don't get me wrong, there's plenty more to learn, but the first video was enough to allow me to understand the basics and get me back to work immediately. After a few days, my decision was made. Credit card in hand, I made the switch!

Oh yeah, I almost forgot to mention. In addition to everything else a la mode did to help while I was in crisis mode, they also BOUGHT OUT my old support contract, so I didn't lose money on the deal.

The software itself is amazing.

It's everything I thought it would be, and more. Incredibly customizable, and the functionality is mind-blowing. Whether it's QuickSource pulling in property data when you create a report, or peer comp data automatically filling in your comparable sales grid, the things this software will do for you will astound and amaze. I haven't even looked at TOTAL for Mobile yet... that's next!

Trust me. Stop putting it off.

Call a la mode, get the trial and spend an hour or two trying it out. If you're like me, you'll refuse to go back. Yeah, there's going to be some pain in the transition, but a la mode is there for you. There's an extensive video library and LIVE COACHING to help you. Stop reading this and just do it, you'll thank me!
